The free summer coaching programme organised by the Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Adedayo Ladega, kicked – off Monday with a charge to students to take advantage of the opportunities to excel in their academics and use the coaching as a platform to fulfil their talents and achieve their set goals.
The summer coaching is opened to students in Ikorodu, while the 150 students who have been provided with free GCE forms are engaged in the ongoing classes.
Prince Ladega gave the charge when he visited D – TEE Tutors at 6, David Sholarin Street, Behind Total Filling Station, Benson, Ikorodu, Lagos, the centre of the summer coaching, to kick – off the classes in the company of Hon. Babawale Alogba, Vice Chairman of Ikorodu LGA, the Head of Department for Education Ikorodu LGA, and other administrative staff from the Office of the Executive Chairman.
The council boss charged participants to sacrifice their time to read and prepare themselves for future.
“I am honoured to be here with you today to give you words of encouragement.
“First of all, studying hard is something that you need to embrace. Aside from being prepared, you need to be ready to sacrifice because, we have a lot of time to play around but how do you want your parent, your guardian, your mentor to feel when you fail. You will never fail in Jesus’ name. Amen.
“What I am trying to tell you is just for you to prepare yourself and to excel in life because I am here to tell you about the importance of education. Education gives us a lot of meaning and if you encourage yourself to study hard, you will eventually make your parents proud, your mentors and your teachers proud and that is why you need to be ready to study hard.”
Prince Ladega explained that he is providing them opportunities through education to make them better person in future.
“Why I am giving these free GCE forms and the coaching is because I want to encourage you to be a better person in future because you’re the leaders of tomorrow and being the leaders of tomorrow entails a lot of things. That is why we are empowering you with education.
“We are just giving you opportunities to excel and to show your talents. I pray and I beg you to study so hard in order to make your parents and your people proud.
“This free summer coaching is not just about passing exams. It’s about shaping your mindset for success, learning discipline, and making your parents proud through hard work and sacrifice. I am a living witness to what education can do. If you’re willing to put in the effort, you can achieve anything,” Ikorodu LG Chairman charged.
The summer classes which run 9:00 am to 1:00pm Mondays to Fridays, offers free coaching in core subjects including English Language, Mathematics, and Sciences, among others. It is open to students across Ikorodu and is designed to provide academic support, bridge learning gaps, and equip young learners with tools for future achievements.
